    An Existing Home Performance Contractor performs a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR energy assessment of your home that includes performance testing your ventilation and mechanical systems, building tightness, and insulation levels. They are also qualified to do all or some of the necessary work that you would want done, but do not provide a detailed, written report or have their work verified by an independent consultant. We have trained them in our installation practices and standards to provide you with the best possible service. Performance Contractors also hold Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst and Envelope Professional Certifications.

    After a partnering consultant performs a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® assessment and suggests changes to improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency, he or she will suggest trade ally partners that perform work to our standards.  They receive classroom and in-field training based on building science principles and diagnostic testing to assure that installations meet Program and industry standards.  Installing Trade Ally partners work with you and your consultant to make sure your home gets the work done that you need.

Through the entire construction process, the Consultant works with a Builder partner to deliver a new home that is Focus on Energy New Homes certified.

While these types of partners may not perform energy retrofit work on your home, they understand and promote the building science principles of the program and often serve as a resource for you.
